2013 Nike Labor Day Classic Schedule
The 2013 Classic has seen a steady growth to 90 teams, continuing our consistent approach and our 5-year commitment to securing relationships with clubs, hiring the best referees and playing on the best fields in New England!
The 2012 Classic expanded to 74 teams, growing in sync with the availability of new municipal facilities coming online in the Waterford area. Attendance growth can be confidently forecast to be more than 1500 players and an estimated 3,000 daily attendees.
The 2011 Classic drew 53 teams at the Club and Premier levels, with boys and girls ages 10-14 playing on 8 fields at two facilities (Spera and Bridebrook Parks) that were immaculately manicured. More than 1,000 players and coaches, and an estimated 1,500 spectators, were on-site during tournament play. We were supported by an army of more than 40 on-site volunteers. All of our feedback from the towns, and from coaches and parents, tells us we achieved these goals, and we received multiple commitments from club administrators that they'll be returning with their teams next year.
Founded by CCS in 2011, the Nike Labor Day Classic is an integral part of our commitment to building the game of soccer in Southeastern Connecticut, while showcasing the area as a vacation destination for youth players and their families.
The Classic is held in partnership with the Waterford, East Lyme, and Southeast (Premier) Soccer Clubs. Importantly, the Classic represents the first time these clubs have partnered together to advance the visibility of youth soccer after decades of co-existence in Southeast Connecticut. The Classic also serves as an important fundraiser for these clubs.
