Come to Camp Positive

A 7-hour day at camp can be a long time when you are training with intensity and surrounded by some unfamiliar faces. We have found that there will be some high and unfortunately, some low points during the week in a new environment. It is important that campers focus on the many positive experiences when faced with a challenge during the week. Ultimately, you will learn more and have more successes with a positive state of mind!

Being Physically Prepared

At Connecticut Coast Soccer Camp, we ask that you to please try to go into camp in your best physical condition. Every moment at Connecticut Coast is a valuable learning experience. You want to be able to be able to seize every opportunity to practice and learn. We all know that our ability to pay attention decreases when we are tired, our ability to train with a pulled muscle is reduced, our ability to run with blisters is nearly impossible. The bottom line is that to take full advantage of everything that is offered at camp you must be in good physical condition.

Be a Sponge While at Camp

Probably the most important thing you can bring to camp is an open mind. You are about to be inundated with all types of technical, tactical, psychological and physiological information. No matter how good you are or how many successes you have enjoyed remember why you decided to go to camp...to get better by learning from the best. Camp is a learning environment like school. You are presented with a whole lot of information and then it is up to you to decide what to do with it. Your goal should be to absorb as much information as possible and then fit what you can into your game. You may not agree with everything but you owe it to yourself to open your mind and try new things. Remember why you signed up for camp.

Bring the Right Equipment

Bringing the right equipment daily to camp is crucial to having a successful camp. Of course you will need to bring your usual gear; shirts, shorts, socks, shin guards cleats, indoor shoes or sneakers, however, these are important:

Cleats that are already broken in because new shoes can give you blisters!
An extra goalkeeper jersey for Goalkeepers.
Indoor shoes for possible indoor sessions and casual wear.
Daily medications, including Epi-Pens, if you have Bee allergies.
Inhalers need to be brought daily.
Sandals for the time when you are not playing.
Bug-spray for those pesky shoreline mosquitoes.
Sunscreen (at least 45 SPF).
A water bottle with your name on it (to prevent dehydration).
Spending money to purchase fresh fruit, bottled waters and sports drinks.
Change of clothes when the fire trucks leave.
Extra scrunchies’s and hair ties.
A notebook to write down your new friend’s email address.
A disposable camera for that picture of a new friend!
